Ascension

The Ascension weekend is a bit quieter than other years. Without friend boats (they have other commitments) and without daughters (they have their own plans). Eline is in Paris with Jonas and Marinthe is in Maastricht with Sam (one of the last weekends this year). We do get an unexpected visit from Jan and Ellen on Wednesday evening 😃. We have a nice chat and go out for dinner at Sailors Inn 😊. On Thursday we sail to Dordrecht ... that's where the wind takes us. We sail large parts before the wind and have to jibe a few times. Great course to try out the new 'Walder'. This is a block at the bottom of the boom with a line to starboard and a line to port and to the cockpit, with which you can jibe very controlled. It works perfectly 👌😃.

On Friday we are in the familiar port of Dordt. The bridge is finished and looks very nice. In the morning we walk to the funeral of Jolanda's father ... a beautiful service! At the end of the afternoon we go for a drink to Petra and Cor, our old neighbors who just returned from Patagonia. Nice to catch up and to hear their stories 😊. Then we take the water cab to Rotterdam to have dinner at Loos. We had made reservations there with the idea of taking the boat to the Veerhaven. But that would be just motoring there and back. We don't feel like that and the water cab was still on our to-do list 😉 .
On Saturday we sail back to Bru, and that too is fully sailable because the wind has now turned to the north. A wonderful sailing trip back.

On Sunday afternoon we drive to Marinthe in Maastricht to pick up a lot of boxes that have to go to storage in Breda, because her room is sublet for the next six months. We also get a crate of beer that has to go to Jonas, a few bags of clothing that have to go to a clothing container and some bags of garbage. What parents with a car are not good for 😉😎. In the evening we go out for a delicious dinner at Noon, a cozy little restaurant on the river Maas. Well picked 👍. All in all a very successful Ascension weekend!
