We have been living on the boat for 9 weeks now and we like it very much. It feels very natural, like it has been a long time since we lived in a house ☺️. The weeks in Dordrecht fly by. With working at home, occasionally some friends for dinner, the girls regularly visiting in the weekends and often walking through the beautiful city. We even use the Kamado Joe about three times already.
The two of us on the boat fits perfectly. Even with both working at home that goes very well. With the girls in the weekend is also very good. We have been used to that for years 😃. It gets tighter when there is a boyfriend, the weather is less good and we are not sailing. In situations like that, we'll probably rent a cottage in a nice place more often in the future. Like a midweek in the Veluwe in February and a weekend in Cadier en Keer in March, just around the corner from the girls' home.
In het paasweekend verhuizen we van Dordrecht naar Bruinisse. Althans, dat is het plan. Maar we komen wat hindernissen onderweg tegen waardoor het langer duurt. Het is al uitdagend om op Goede Vrijdag de haven van Dordrecht uit te komen. Ten eerste de havenmeester die pas na een telefoontje snel komt om de eerste brug open te maken. Vervolgens door de noodbrug waar eerst de slagboom op een Post NL busje valt en door die consternatie de brugwachter de brug niet helemaal open zet. We kunnen er net door met maar een paar centimeter speling tussen de zalingen en de brug aan bakboord kant en de boot en de wal aan stuurboord kant 😧. De spoorbrug gaat vervolgens netjes op tijd open; we hebben het gered, op naar Willemstad met nog een lekker stukje zeilen op het Hollands Diep. De volgende dag doen we het rustig aan en varen in het begin van de middag naar de Volkerak sluizen … helaas, de brug is dit hele weekend gestremd (hadden we kunnen weten als we de berichten goed hadden gelezen😢). Wat nu? Via de Haringvliet naar Vlissingen is wat ver … dan maar naar Numansdorp en volgende week een keer naar Bruinisse. Dan kunnen we met de fietsjes de auto’s in Dordrecht ophalen. Bovendien zijn we nog nooit in Numansdorp geweest.
We stay here for 4 nights. On Easter Sunday the weather is still beautiful and after a delicious Easter brunch we go for a long walk in the dunes of Oostvoornse. From Easter Monday onwards it is bad weather for three days with strong winds, hail and wet snow. Oh well, we have our house with us so it doesn't matter where we are.
On Wednesday evening we sailed on to Bruinisse. The Volkerak lock opens immediately, at the Krammer we have to wait 45 minutes and at the Grevelingensluis 1.5 hours (because of maintenance it is only open during block hours and we can't get through until 23.00). In the meantime we could pick up Toine's car in Numansdorp. At 23.45 we are back in our own box in Bruinisse with both cars in the parking lot. The move has succeeded 😃.
The next few weeks we are going to experience living on the boat in Bruinisse. I'm sure it will be fun, with a different dynamic than in Dordrecht. It's the variety that makes living on a boat so attractive 😊.
