in the Gambia

It was 6 days sailing to the Gambia.
We arrived in the dark.
Once we and the barbarossa had cast anchor,
the barbarossa went bubbling over with us.
The next day we anchored somewhere else in The Gambia.
There the people were very poor but they were very happy.
In the evening we had dinner at a restaurant on the shore.
The restaurant was all wood really everything even the tables and chairs.
The food was delicious.
The next day we anchored on the Gambia River.
There are very nice people there.
We looked around in a village and there were lots of children there.
They all walked around us and shook our hands.
We were also allowed to see their school. They are very poor here.

lots of love from eline!

    Hi Eline and Marinthe,

Nice to hear from you again! You are all experiencing so many special and fun things! Really great!
At school we are still working hard. The reports are almost due. And...Sinterklaas is in the country again, so...we are making surprises and poems! The whole school is decorated again and it all looks very nice!
I think you guys are going to be doing some sort of a wrap-up, too, aren't you?
Do you still enjoy your time at school? I think it is very strange to be wobbling around like this while reading and counting! No, just kidding, it is just great what you are doing!
Have fun and enjoy the sun and warmth (oohh I miss that!!!) and see you soon!

    kind regards

    miss Fieke
