Early move to Bruinisse

We have been in Bruinisse for almost two weeks at our own familiar spot. Why so early in the season?

When we heard in early February that we had one more day to leave the harbor and otherwise would have to wait until at least March 14, the decision was quickly made. The renovation of the monumental bridge is in its final stages and will close for at least 6 weeks for installation of the new bridge and removal of the emergency bridge. We prepare to leave the next day including reserving the opening of the three bridges. When we sailed out of the harbor the next day, the weather was lovely and sunny. Bye bye Dordrecht ... it was a short winter this time. The bridges all opened on time and we motored to Numansdorp without any problems. The night before we had already parked my car there. Once we arrive we take my car and get the car from Toine and so both cars are in Numansdorp. We would actually like to go to Bru next weekend, but then there will be a strong wind and there is a good chance that the bridges will not open. Also, the Krammer lock is closed for two weeks after the weekend because of diving activities. So we decided to go straight on the next evening and that too went well. At 6 p.m., after the rush hour, we can go straight through the Volkerak and around 10.30 p.m. we are back at our familiar spot in Bru. Fortunately, Jeanette can take us to the cars in Numansdorp the next day. A few days later we also pick up our bicycles from Dordt, so the move is complete.

Now we are going to experience what it is like to lie here in the winter. The first experiences are good. What a wonderful peace and quiet, we are immediately in the sun when it shines and we have a beautiful view over the Grevelingen. One small disadvantage is that we have to tap the water on the jetty at the harbour office because the water on our jetty is cut off. But we only have to do that once every 1.5 - 2 weeks and it's a nice trip.

Now we are lying nicely under slope due to the strong wind from the south-west. The next few days and especially Friday night the wind is going to be even stronger. We'll see how that goes, it will probably move nicely. But we are well anchored and we are used to moving around.

What is also nice is that we can park our cars close by and for free with a charging station. Because we are more nature people than city people we expect that a winter in Bru will also be good for us 😊.
