Dismantling - part 1

Moving from a big house to a boat ... 'what do you do with all your stuff', we are often asked. The boat is already pretty much furnished, so not much can go there anymore. A part we take with us to a storage space that is still to be rented. Like stuff with emotional value and some furniture we might need again in a smaller house. Besides that all the stuff we need occasionally but can't use the boat, like ski stuff. How many m3 of storage space we will need we can't really estimate at this moment. The emphasis is now on selling and giving away stuff that we don't want to keep and that might be of value to someone else.
We use the days off in the week after Christmas for a first big step in clearing our house ... the result is there 😃.

For the two Christmas dinners Toine empties the wine cellar. Much can be left immediately, because it is already far too old. A whole selection that can unpack right and wrong is ready for the Christmas dinners. The first day with Grandpa Wim, Pieter and Eline is at least half wrong 😅. The second day with Inge and Mark is better. In any case it clears up nicely on 😊.

Right after Christmas we start putting stuff on the marketplace. Both the more valuable things for money but also many things for free. Soon the reactions are coming in. The big bed which Inge and Mark slept in the night before is collected immediately. Also a lot of kitchen- and home decoration stuff leaves the same day for little money or for free. The big brown couch in the living room is sold the very next day 😃. It's a lively business and we're getting quite proficient at making packages, printing shipping labels and taking the packages to the parcel office around the corner. It's great how PostNL has arranged this 👍. Together we have a full day's work at it.

Eline helps with sorting out all the playmobil. A very useful task, because everything was mixed up. Some of it is on the market.

We celebrate New Year's Eve with Jolanda and Lieke on the boat in Dordrecht. In the evening we visit cousin Peggy and hear from her daughter that a friend is looking for furniture for an empty office for his volunteer organization. The next day we have a short app contact and one day later everything is loaded from the study into their van ... desks, chairs, all billy bookcases with 6 boxes of books, the table tennis and football table. All the KLM houses go into two boxes for storage 😎. That's progressing well. She very happy and we very happy 😃😃.

Today Mark comes by to get some more stuff. We also walk through the house with the buyers and make a list of all the things they want to take over. And the sales on the marketplace are going well. So in one week we already lost a lot of stuff. A great feeling ... getting rid of stuff and making others happy with it 😊😊.
