Portosin - Ria de Muros

We've been in Portosin for over 5 days now and that's a long time for us to do. It's starting to itch to go on again and it looks like we will sail to the next Ria tomorrow afternoon. It's very cosy here, together with the Valentine, the Barbarossa and the Nebulea, all departing boats with children (and all living in Brabant). What has kept us here so long is the waiting for a piece of sail batten sent in from the Netherlands and the strong wind. The batten arrived yesterday afternoon and has already been attached to the sail. Also the wind has just settled down again, but has lasted for the last two days, such a wind force 6/7 with often bumps in 8. No weather to be outside, so nice that we are in the marina.

Every morning we start school. This is running fine now. Eline and Marinthe are able to work independently and with a little guidance they are through the fabric in a few hours. After that we often go to the beach with the other boats, or the children play together on the boat or in the playground. We as parents do chores, such as shopping, cleaning, making all kinds of handy things on the boat (Toine's hobby), or we are busy with the internet and the website. Unbelievable how quickly the days fly by.

We have a good internet connection and therefore we can skyping with Inge, Ellen and Harry&Joke. We even end up with skype via our boat in a chat session of the NOS about Laura Dekker, because Baaf's father (from the Valentine's Day) is being interviewed and Baaf skyped at our place. For those who are interested; the session is still on nos.nl and is a lot of fun to watch.

Only on Wednesdays there is no school, because then we go to Santiago de Compostella, together with the Valentine, by bus. We all can't remember the last time we were in the bus. We're doing fine and an hour later we're in town. A short walk from the bus station to the old city. What a hustle and bustle. Full of real pilgrims who have come walking or cycling, but there are also a lot of tourists (like us) who just come to see us for a day.

The cathedral is large and impressive. Inside is a very long line of people embracing Saint James (a follower of Jesus). We watch this from a distance and make a tour through the beautiful cathedral. Walking around in the city for a while; it's striking that we're used to quiet surroundings and then such a busy town comes at you. But very special to see it once. We buy another pilgrim's stick for Grandpa Wim; a real one with a St Jacob's shell on it. All in all a fun and educational day!

The sailing calls again so tomorrow we'll go on to the next Ria!

    Sounds all right. Stay jealous.
And if I look at that photo & #39;s that father of Baaf is a long time man. Falls out of place in Santiago di Compostella.
I'm glad the crossing of the Bay of Biscay went so well.
    Have a good time together.
